“Social change begins with a change in thought. There is no more effective way of making a difference than prayer.”
Those are the words of Ron Ballard, who will speak Monday at noon, March 7th at The Chicago Temple, 77 W. Washington at Clark.
The title of his talk is “Neutralizing Violence: your prayer can make a difference.”
“Violence takes many forms in communities and families, and Ron’s talk will give us a healing perspective. There are many people working to stop violence and this prayer meeting will bring us together to give them support,” says Lois Carlson, chairwoman of the committee organizing the event.
Interspersed with Ballard’s inspirational remarks, there will be periods where the audience can pray silently in support of progress in our communities.
Ballard has 40 years in the healing ministry of Christian Science, having been in a career in politics. He is a prayer activist who writes and speaks in a wide variety of venues.
During his talk, Ballard references the original sourcebook on Christian healing, the Bible. Also, referenced will be a book of universally applicable ideas on practical spirituality with Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
In his talk Ballard will explore the nature of prayer as the spiritual understanding of how God governs His creation. Drawing on personal experience, Ballard will share how a radical change of thought from the mesmerizing pictures of the human scene to a spiritual perspective brings healing and resolution.
The talk is sponsored by two churches in the area, Seventeenth and Second Churches of Christ, Scientist.
