West Side residents and business owners who suffered damages in the storms and flooding that occurred July 19 through Aug. 7 may apply online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362. TTY users should call 1-800-462-7585.
Operators are available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and tomorrow, the final day to apply for help. If there are questions about the status of an application or contact information needs to be updated, the same number may be used. Multilingual operators are available.
Thousands of Austin residents have already received financial assistance through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.
Wednesday is also the deadline for homeowners and businesses hit by the storms and flooding to apply for a loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
SBA disaster loan information may be obtained by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 or TTY 1-800-877-8339 through Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by e-mailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. Online applications are also being accepted at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/.
