Come experience poetry, music, art and community all on one stage at the third annual Chicago Poetry Block Party from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at Austin Town Hall, 5610 W. Lake St.
The event is free and open to people of all ages. Guests can participate in writing workshops, visual art activities, poetry readings, games and musical performances for a summertime experience unlike any other.
Joseph Chilliams of Pivot Gang will host the event, which includes performances by Tasha, Brandon Markell Holmes, Eve L. Ewing, Danez Smith, avery r. young and the CPBP House Band.
You can share your own poetry during an open mic session and hear talented, up-and-coming poets from across the country perform their work.
The event is hosted by the Poetry Foundation, Crescendo Literary, Austin Town Hall and the Chicago Park District.
