Struggling to understand tax forms but can’t afford an accountant? You’re not alone —and Ladder Up is here to help.
Just in time for the April 18th tax deadline, the Chicago-based nonprofit is offering free assistance in filing state and federal forms to Illinois residents who earn up to $32,000 as an individual or $58,000 as a household.
“This year marks our 28th tax season, and with patience and attention to detail, we will make it our best one yet,” Ladder Up Executive Director Phyllis Cavallone-Jurek said.
Nearly 400 volunteers have spent a total of 13,964.5 hours helping 8,310 individuals and households file 6,670 tax returns, delivering $14,282,726 in total refunds processed and with an average refund of $2,144.
