West Side flood relief meeting to be held Tuesday

By |

Dear Neighbor,

Many of us were severely impacted by the flooding in early July. Since then, I have worked with state and local partners to help residents receive aid.

On July 11, 2023, Gov. J.B. Pritzker issued a disaster proclamation, opening the door for additional assistance.

This is a developing situation, but if you were impacted and live in the city of Chicago, I encourage you to call and report your damage to 311. The Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) uses these calls to find the areas in the city to complete damage assessments.

As of this writing, IEMA is still in the damage assessment phase and is working to see if this area will be eligible for federal assistance.

Good Neighbors will be holding a community meeting at 2 p.m. July 18 at 5437 W. Division St. for those affected by the flooding.

We constantly communicate with community organizations to help people as quickly as possible.

This has been a difficult month for many, but I will continue to push for the resources necessary to help this community get back on its feet.

Sincerely,

State Rep. La Shawn K. Ford
