On Friday and Saturday, BUILD Chicago will hold a restorative justice summit at their new state-of-the-art campus at 5100 W. Harrison St.
The two-day event will be rooted in the guiding values of restorative justice, and participants will be introduced to innovative approaches to addressing equity, harm, conflict and proactive community building in ways that center relationships and avoid exclusion.
The activities and workshops will be based on these tracks:
Repairing harm: restorative justice practices
Renewing hope: peacemaking and conflict resolution strategies
Reigniting vision: effective strategies for activating change
Learn from community leaders, organizations, service providers, policymakers and trailblazers in restorative justice, peacemaking, policy and legislation, civic education, empowering youth, community outreach, engagement, juvenile justice and policing reform. There will be many opportunities for networking and making connections.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. May 19, and the event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On Saturday, the community day will include a youth job fair, a quilting workshop, yoga, drumming, conversations on what restorative justice.
Participants will also have an opportunity to see BUILD Chicago’s newly planted fruit trees.
