West Side residents are invited to Loretto Hospital Wednesday to learn how they can help fight the opioid crisis. The training is being held in Austin, which has been especially hard hit with record-high opioid deaths.
Behavioral health clinicians from Maryville Academy and The Loretto Hospital will provide
hands-on training on how to administer Narcan (also known as naloxone), an opioid antagonist that can reverse the effects of an overdose.
The free training will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Aug. 31 – which is International Overdose Awareness Day – in the hospital’s sixth- floor auditorium, 645 S. Central Ave.
