Collaboraction Theatre Chicago is adapting the hit play Crime Scene: A Chicago Anthology and evolving it into a sequel, set to come to the Austin Town Hall this summer.
The sequel, Crime Scene Chicago: Let Hope Rise, will tour four Chicago public parks throughout the summer.
The free performance will take a closer look at conditions of violence in the city and awaken citizens to the overwhelming situation.
Community involvement will be key to the performances. Interviews with residents of the communities where the show will tour will be incorporated into the actual performance.
Collaboraction will also offer free workshops to help residents turn their stories into theatrical performances.
Each performance will be followed by a discussion with the audience about the ongoing violence and what can be done to prevent it. All performances will take place Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m.
The West Side performance will be held August 23-24 at Austin Town Hall, 5610 W. Lake St.
