Corey Scott |
From our partners at the Austin Weekly News: An Austin man was arrested and charged with drug possession Monday after police found cocaine and heroin inside his car worth more than $1 million.
Corey Scott, 37, of the 1700 block of North Menard, was charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance. He was also cited for making an improper lane change without a signal and for operating a motor vehicle without insurance. He was driving a 2004 Honda sedan.
According to police, Scott was traveling west on the Eisenhower Expressway and made several abrupt lane changes. The traffic stop occurred at about 10 p.m. near the 2100 block of West Van Buren. According to police, Scott presented officers with his driver’s license and an invalid insurance card.
Officers then observed a large bag on the front seat. Scott, according to police, appeared nervous as he told the officers that the bag contained laundry. A drug-sniffing canine reportedly detected the bag contained narcotics.
Police say they discovered several packages of cocaine and heroin inside the bag. Scott is in Cook County Jail awaiting a May 3 hearing at the Cook County Criminal Court complex at 26th and California. His bail was set at $100,000.
