The Central Austin Neighborhood Association's corner planting day will be held May 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Plants, equipment and supplies will be provided; donations are welcome, too. Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at Third Unitarian Church, 301 N. Mayfield, and break into groups. CANA will provide lunch afterwards at the church. For more info, call 312-952-4983.
St. Martin's family festival of disability arts and culture continues May 20th from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the church, 5700 W. Midway Park, with the showing of film clips depicting characters with disabilities, followed by a discussion.The program is free; reservations are recommended. The Chicago Park District and the Jazz Institute of Chicago
present Jazz Cabaret: Joan Collasso 7 p.m. June 8 at Columbus Park Refectory, 5701 W. Jackson Blvd. Jazz Links students will perform during the free show before Collasso takes the stage to pay tribute to musical influences that helped shape the sound of jazz.
